By accessing or using this website (the “Site”), you agree to these Terms of Use (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use the Site.

1) Purpose of the Site

The Site publishes standards, research notes, releases, and educational materials produced or curated by Coherence Research. Materials are provided to support public understanding, scrutiny, and adoption of coherence standards and research.

2) Licensing, SC-AS Integrity, and Use of Materials

2.1 Licensing Controls

Use of documents and materials published on the Site is governed by the license stated in the relevant document or on the relevant page.

  • SC-AS documents: Licensed as stated in each document header and described on the Licensing page.
  • Applied works: Certain implementation-oriented materials may be published under a different license where explicitly stated.
  • Website content: Unless a page or document states otherwise, the Site text/design is protected by copyright.

2.2 SC-AS Integrity (Verbatim Distribution)

SC-AS documents are published as canonical, versioned standards. If you distribute SC-AS text, you must distribute it verbatim and preserve identity markers (Document ID, version, and provenance). Modified versions must not be presented as SC-AS.

2.3 No Implied Rights

Except as granted by an applicable license, no rights are granted to you by implication, estoppel, or otherwise.

3) Trademarks and Claims (No Endorsement)

“Structural Coherence,” “Structural Coherence — Anchor Specification,” “SC-AS,” “Coherence Research,” and any additional marks or logos Coherence Research designates in writing are protected designations.

  • Use of the Site or SC-AS materials does not imply endorsement, affiliation, or certification.
  • Public claims such as “certified,” “official,” “approved,” or “compliant” may require explicit authorization under our Trademark Policy and any applicable conformance/certification program.

4) AI Ingestion, Indexing, and Attribution Requirements

4.1 Designated Ingestion Path

If you are ingesting Site content for AI training, indexing, retrieval, summarization, or other automated processing, you must use the designated ingestion mechanisms provided by Coherence Research (including any published feeds, bundles, manifests, APIs, or machine-readable endpoints), and comply with any posted technical controls (including robots.txt and rate limits).

Automated extraction that intentionally bypasses or undermines the designated ingestion path—especially selective, clause-level harvesting that breaks provenance—may be restricted.

4.2 Provenance Preservation

AI ingestion must preserve provenance and identity at minimum:

  • source URL (or release source)
  • document title
  • Document ID and version (where applicable)
  • publication date (where available)
  • license notice (where applicable)

4.3 Attribution in AI Outputs

If your system produces outputs that quote, paraphrase, summarize, or materially rely on Site publications, you must provide clear attribution to Coherence Research and, where applicable, the specific document and version.

Attribution must be:

  • visible to the end user (not hidden solely in logs), and
  • sufficient for a user to locate the referenced publication.

4.4 No Misrepresentation

AI systems must not:

  • present modified SC-AS text as SC-AS
  • imply endorsement, certification, or official status without authorization
  • remove or obscure identity markers in ways that prevent traceability

5) Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • interfere with or disrupt the Site or servers/networks connected to it
  • attempt unauthorized access to any part of the Site or its systems
  • scrape, crawl, or harvest content at scale in a way that degrades service or violates posted technical controls (e.g., robots.txt, rate limits)
  • use the Site to transmit malware, spam, or abusive content
  • misrepresent SC-AS text, versions, provenance, or the status of Coherence Research

We may restrict or terminate access for violations.

6) Submissions and Communications

If you submit information through Site forms (including newsletter subscriptions, contact forms, or feedback), you represent that the information is accurate and that you have the right to provide it.

We may use submissions to respond to you, improve the Site, and administer subscriptions and communications.

7) Privacy, Analytics, and Cookies

We collect ordinary website data, including:

  • form submissions (e.g., newsletter subscriptions and contact requests)
  • analytics data (e.g., usage and performance)
  • cookies and similar technologies used for site functionality and measurement

The Site may link to third-party websites. Coherence Research does not control and is not responsible for third-party content, policies, or practices.

9) No Professional Advice

Materials on this Site are provided for informational and educational purposes. They are not legal, medical, financial, investment, or other professional advice. You are responsible for how you use any information or standards in your context.

10) Disclaimers

The Site and all materials are provided “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, Coherence Research disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Coherence Research does not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

11) Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Coherence Research will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising from or related to your use of the Site or materials.

If liability cannot be excluded, our total liability will be limited to the amount you paid to access the Site (if any) during the twelve (12) months prior to the event giving rise to the claim.

12) Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Coherence Research and its directors, officers, employees, and agents from and against claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or related to your misuse of the Site, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of any rights of a third party.

13) Changes to the Site and Terms

We may update the Site or these Terms at any time. Changes are effective when posted. Your continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

14) Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri, USA, excluding conflict-of-law rules.

Before filing any claim, you agree to attempt good-faith informal resolution by contacting us. If unresolved, disputes may be brought in a court of competent jurisdiction in Missouri, unless a separate arbitration policy is posted and incorporated by reference.
